Thursday, October 30, 2008It has just been announced by the ministry of health that cigarettes being distributed in the country now will not only have to include health warning notice on the boxes but also pictures of disease that will be caused by smoking.(creepy pictures of lung failure and mouth cancer/ disease) (an example of failed tooth implant :D :D) In my opinion, no matter how many creepy pictures you are going to put on each box of these cigarettes, the smoker will never give a damn. You might wonder, why doesn't the government just ban the distribution of cigarettes or smoking in the country? Below are a few answers why the government still doesn't ban cigarettes yet. First, by banning cigarettes, the government will lose a big portion of the revenue they get from the tax on cigarettes. Second, employment issue. By banning cigarettes, a number of oversea-based cigarettes company will be forced to close down and that will cause existing employees of those company to lose their job and wander around the street. Third, smuggling. Even if the government were to ban cigarettes, being an 'open' country (as in so many waters surrounding both the Peninsular and East Malaysia) there will still be ways that cigarettes can get into our country. By that, not only the government will lost the contribution from tax on cigarettes but they will also need to handle the smuggling issue, is a 'lose-lose' situation to them. Last, the existence of such cigarettes. (ginseng flavoured cigarettes) Tuesday, October 28, 2008Yesterday was Deepavali. Though i didn't really celebrate it, but i can somehow feel the atmosphere of it because the neighborhood that i am staying is getting crowded with more and more Indian over the years. What i like about Deepavali: i) Murukku The reason why i like murukku is because it is tasty and spicy. ii) Curry Being a Malaysian, i believe 6 or 7 out of 10 individuals in Malaysia likes curry. The reason why i like curry is because i know myself isn't 'hot' enough therefore, i eat alot of curry thinking that i might be the 'hottest' one day. :D iii) Bee-hive biscuits I don't know how to address that biscuits, but it is made into the shape of bee hives. Though this biscuit can be found during CNY, but i believe it came from the Indians. iv) Public holiday Needless to explain i guess, who doesn't like holidays? :D :D Happy Birthday, Ching Xiong!!! Thursday, October 23, 2008Today, the result for my 1st semester is being released. Hard to accept, but that is the fact.Maybe luck isn't on my side or maybe it is simply because i didn't study hard enough. I am not sure if i will get grounded or screwed for the result, but that is what i get for what i given. I am sorry. Monday, October 20, 2008Nothing much to post about lately. Just some photos would do i guess.(trimmed-down mango tree) And, found on today's newspapers. (2nd prize isn't enough?) How about this? (on the same day, a 1st prize and another 3rd prize drawn by another lottery company. one hell of a lucky dude) The movie, 'Max Payne' is abit bored. And i thought it would be much more interesting since it is adapted from a game. Tuesday, October 14, 2008Yesterday, went for a birthdays celebration. No, it is not a typo. Yes indeed, a birthdays celebration. Birthdays is because, me myself on the 12th and 2 more friends sharing the same birthday on the 13th of October, so we make it a shared birthday celebration.Actually, i was quite reluctant to be sitting in front of the cake and to be considered as a birthday boy because my actual birthday is 1 day before this. But then, both the 13th-stars pulled me along. Also, to avoid fighting, quarreling or even blood-shedding over that subject, i joined in. Of course, just cocking here. :P In total, 19 of us turned up for the celebration. The food was average, as in not too tasty nor yucky. Actually, i didn't care much about the food. To me, getting together with friends and the close one is what matters on birthday celebration. (all of us) (those celebrating birthday) ( Then again: ( Thank you everyone. Sunday, October 12, 2008Definition of 'pout':i) according to an online dictionary is, to push the lower lip forward to express annoyance, or to push both lips forward in a sexually attractive way. ii) according to a dictionary found in my house is, push your lips forward as a sign of sulking or to make yourself look sexually attractive. Whatever that means, it is basically the look on most of the models you can find on magazines with their mouth 'sticking' out. I wonder who started to pose with this 'great' pose. Sexy??? I don't think so. All i can think about are sausages. Bite on the lips is much sexier. (me trying too hard to pout, sorry and that is why i am not qualified to be a model i guess :D) Happy Birthday to me. :D :D Wednesday, October 8, 2008A friend of mine promised to come with me for lunch today and because our class has ended quite early, we went to MV thinking that we might have other things to do there rather than just going to somewhere else for the sake of food only.We went to a fast food restaurant for lunch. I will not mention the name here but i can tell you that it is my buddy's favourite fast food restaurant. All went well: we queued, ordered our food, paid for the food, sat down, 'workship' the food...... and of course, chit-chatting. Just as the time getting closer to noon, the mall gets crowded and so as the restaurant. As things just about to get better, i saw the female from the couple sitting at the back lifted up her legs suddenly and heard her saying something like 'rat'. Of course, it didn't take long for other customers to figure that out. I didn't told my friend about the rat because i knew that she will freaked out once i told her that. But i told her in the end because i am afraid that the rat might come over to our direction (maybe the friend of mine is too pretty or most probably the rat is a male) and she will slap me later for not informing her about the rat. As expected, she freaks out, ran off and leave the restaurant as soon as i told her about the rat. As for me, i sat there and observe how the workers get rid of the rat. I guess we were very lucky because how often do you get to see a rat wandering in a famous fast food restaurant? Too bad i wasn't able to snap a photo of the rat in the restaurant but i guess it caused and will cause an impact on the restaurant because as soon as the rat comes out, customers who are dining there left the premise in no time (except my friend and i) and customers who are queuing up at the counters snapped some photos of that 'cute' little rat and left straightly (probably they are off to send those photos to reporters, food critics or even blogging it on their blogs like what i am doing now) I guess humans are more afraid of rats than it should fear humans in the nature. After that, we went for a movie called 'Eagle Eye'. Of course, sent my friend home after the movie and i even kissed her on the cheek before saying bye. Just cocking here. :P :P Wanted to buy Oasis's latest album after the movie, but no sign of the CD in the shop. As expected, our market is surely slower than the rest of the world and that is why illegal downloadings are much preferred here. Shame!!! (nice banner, a home tuition center which provides money lending services or is it a finance institute which gives tuition? i don't know, contact them to find out yourself) Sunday, October 5, 2008Words can be confusing sometimes, don't believe me? See this:Old newspapers - so which one would it be? new oldspapers or old newspapers? So how should we call the day's newspapers then? New newspapers? :D In that case, i would have to call this pair of shoes as old new shoes then. Because it has been kept in the store room for more than 2 years and i am just about to use it tomorrow. (old new shoes) Saturday, October 4, 2008Went for a short trip to Pulau Ketam yesterday. The short i mean is about 2 hours.(the boats at the shore) (taken from the speedboat) And of course, the seafood: (some seafood, don't know what it is called in english) (fried sotong) And few other dishes, because the food was so nice, we eventually finished it so soon that photos can't be taken. After the meal, we took a short walk on the island and head back to the port. (my silly brother was shocked that mobile phones can be used on the speedboat and i was very happy for his 'great' discovery) Friday, October 3, 2008A friend of mine called me around 1.30am this morning and i thought he was going to share something nice or interesting with me, but then i was shocked by him when he told me he was robbed today. This isn't the first time this friend of mine get robbed. He told me how the incident happened: how he got onto the bus, how the bunch of robbers (most probably illegal immigrants) get into the same bus, how the robbers come close to him, how he safeguarded his belongings, how the robbers eventually stole his handphone, how the bus conductor and driver ignored him when he told them he was robbed, how the other bus passengers ignored him when he screamed for help, how the robbers get down the bus casually when they reached their destination...... What is wrong with our society now? Why no one would lend a hand to an unlucky person when one needed it the most? Or at least, the bus driver can drive to a near-by police station. We are the citizen of the country and yet we get bullied by these real 'squatters' who come to our country. I know, it is unwise to classify all these immigrants as nuisance or trouble-makers because some of them really really worked their ass off here to earn a living, but of course there will still be 'black sheep' among them. Also, we can't deny that these immigrants play an important role in the development of our country, but then again our country now is overloaded with them. I guess the local authorities are partly to be blamed for this issue for instance, what they like to do is to give tickets to those using their mobile phones when driving, checking out permits of foreign immigrants to see if they are overstaying and of course all sorts of 'good' things that you heard them doing since a long time ago instead of catching thieves, solving cases or even patrolling the streets. Here is an idea: fuck those reports, get off your chair and start patrolling. The society needs you more than anything else. Even you, the law enforcers don't give a shit, what can us, normal citizens do in fighting crimes? Even guard dogs are better than human sometimes: you feed them, they will at least bark when strangers come near. I like Batman alot, but i wish our city won't be the next Gotham city (filled with crimes and corruptions) As for my unlucky friend, the best thing i can do now is to make you feel better i guess. Really sorry for what 'striked' you. |
